HELP COVER RICE'S CARE!

Poor Rice was surrendered to RSPCA Victoria with a severe break in her left back leg. Our vets noted that she was unable to walk, and her leg appeared visually unstable, likely causing significant pain. The sweet but timid pup was also described as “shut down” – a heartbreaking term for an animal who is withdrawn or depressed.

Once in our care, Rice received the urgent surgery she needed to repair her broken leg and ease her pain.

Rice spent 27 days recovering in our clinic and receiving the best possible care; however, nothing compares to a loving home. She is currently continuing her recovery in a volunteer foster home, where she will stay for 6-10 weeks. During this time, Rice will undergo intensive physiotherapy and strict cage rest with gentle walks to ensure her leg heals properly.

X-ray's of Rice's broken leg before and after surgery.

Please support Rice’s emergency appeal to help cover the costs of her much-needed care. We expect her surgery and after-care costs to exceed $4,000.

Rice is just one of 123 shelter animals under vet care at RSPCA Victoria. As more than 90% of our funding comes from the generous support of the Victorian community, we can’t shoulder this cost on our own. Please help us give lovely Rice the second chance at life she deserves.

Although it’s been a long and tough journey for Rice, she is starting to regain confidence by going out for short walks and learning new tricks with her foster carer! Our vets expect that she will make a full recovery and soon be ready to find her perfect new home full of love.

Thank you for opening your heart to animals and contributing what you can to Rice’s emergency fund.

*The goal for Rice’s fundraiser includes the cost of her surgery and other costs associated with her care. If funds raised in Rice’s name exceed target, additional funds will contribute to the treatment, rehabilitation and rehoming of other animals in need.
